The exodus of basketball talent from ESPN over the past 15 months has been astounding. First breaking up the Van Gundy/Jackson/Breen booth - which was as good as it got in sports. Then Woj leaving - which ESPN couldn't control as it clearly wasn't a money driven decision. Now Lowe. The worldwide leader in letting NBA talent walk out the door.

I think ESPN is probably looking at 2 options. 1. Throw bank at Shams. 2. They knew well in advance this was coming and coordinated through Woj to retain his sources for a new reporter to take over. I see no way ESPN allows its NBA coverage to lack a Woj/Shefty type.

ESPN’s NBA coverage is in a state of transition with the surprise retirement of insider Adrian Wojnarowski and with the network still figuring out if it will add to its lead broadcast team of Mike Breen and Doris Burke.
