Our area has had a huge amount of catalytic converter thefts this year and I was thinking of getting a shield, but I don't see them for 2012-2016 models. I tried to look up the location fo the catalytic converter but can only find it's harder to access in newer CRVs.

W. williamsji. 11190 posts · Joined 2019. #3 · Jun 3, 2023. As noted, Honda has relocated the CATs to under the hood directly attached to the manifold. They did this back in 2017 with the gen5s. If they want your CAT, they are going to really have to work for it.
The sensor I removed was on the horizontal section of the exhaust and right before the catalytic converter, so I assumed that it had to be the one. The strange thing is that umpteen CRVs have been produced, yet not a single YouTube video on exactly where the bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor is located.
Had the same P0420 code problem with our ’10 Accord 2 years ago 2.4L. Independent garage suggested cleaning out fuel/exhaust system, then using top tier fuel, before replacing cat & O2 sensors. Had been using gasoline from a grocery store chain, which probably bought gas on spot market - different additive packages with every tanker delivery.
