Range report: I printed out the 4 MOA versions and went to the range this afternoon. At 50 yards the dot makes the target tough to see with no magnification, I think these "old fart" eyes were seeing the black ring more than anything else in the indoor range I was in, I'd dialed the dot on my Comp M2 down to the lowest setting I could see and having mounted my rifle in a rest proceeded to dial ...

But, the trajectory is not actually a straight line, so you have to hold just a little higher to hit the 50 yd dead center. Hence, only 1" low at 25 rather than 1.25". Standard iron sights on some ARs will not accomodate ...
But the ACTUAL torque applied to the barrel nut is NOT what the procedure calls for. AS DESIGNED, the AR15 system applies a clamping force on the barrel flange by torquing the barrel nut onto the upper. That clamping force comes from the steel nut stretching the aluminum of the upper to some extent.
These numbers only reflect a difference in sight height. 1.5 inches and 2.6 inches. It makes a huge difference. In fact, just that change alone will result in a difference of around 15 inches at 400 yards with a perfect 25 yard zero. This is the 1.5 inch sight height, zeroed at 25 yards, with a PMC 55gr bullet at 3200fps.
