I'm trying to install Visual Basic 6.0 Professional Edition in Windows 10 Home. I've run VB6 with Windows XP (SP3) for years with no problems. However, when I try to install VB6 in Windows 10, the installer stalls after a short time and becomes "not responding". I've tried running the setup program in the XP compatibility mode with the same result.
Since installation failed, because no comdlg32.ocx was installed, I followed advice from here to unpack the installation file, and copy both *.ocx-Files (comdlg32.ocx, mscomctl.ocx-- both files were not found on Windows 10/11) to SysWOW64. This part worked.
