I have the same issue with mine - the microphone works fine with Siri, Front and Rear facing video, but doesn’t work in calls on both speaker and earpiece, FaceTime & voice memos records a flat line and plays a cracking sound. I am thinking it is the bottom microphone that isn’t working, and am hoping it is not logic board.

You may have to replace the dock in the device as for videos it uses the mic next to the camera for default apps and when using 3rd party apps it will use the mic in the dock. Test the voice recorder app on the phone and if it shows no change in pitch will need a new dock.

I found that a paper clip was a useful tool for the job. After clearing out all the fluff and dirt from these areas. Gradually the microphone started to again for me.
Its caused by a bad simcard connection. Do this, open the back of the phone. Make call to another phone and put that speaker on. While calling , press down on the back of the circuit board where the sim card lay, right where the clear plastic tab (to remove the battery is) and press down on that.
