So Lana finally confirms it, right on time: just a few months after Anne Douglas (Kirk's widow) passes. And Michael Douglas's short, clearly pre-planned statement, "May they both rest in peace". I wonder how much cash changed hands to get Lana to hold off on publication until the 'proper' time. This has coordinated efforts stamped all over it.
February 11, 2020 2:10 AM. Douglas wasn't a gay idol so wasn't going to garner the attention that de Haviland or Day would. Plus he was very old and reclusive the past few years, and wasn't in the public eye. His funeral was small and apparently private, and happened quickly.
The story of Natalie's rape was first mentioned in Suzanne Finstad's biography of Natalie published in 2001. The alleged rapist was her childhood idol, an unnamed powerful, married, movie star/producer. The actor raped her so violently that she had to go to the hospital to stop the bleeding.
R4 I think Lana said it after Kirk's death. Michael Douglas released a statement, not denying the rape accusations but he effectively said I hope they both rest in peace. Before that, I wasn't sure of Kirk/Natalie story but after his son not even denying it, I believe it now.
As Lana tells the story, Natalie's mother drove Natalie to the meeting with Kirk Douglas. The mother and little Lana stayed in the car and waited for Natalie. Lana fell asleep in the backseat. Natalie came back crying, disheveled and blood running down her legs.
R75, the rumors about Kirk Douglas go back at least 25 years -- when Suzanne Finstad's book about Natalie was published in 2001, someone on one of our Usenet groups (alt.showbiz.gossip or alt.gossip.celebrity) was able to link to a thread from the 1990s that had already told the story, and speculated it was either Douglas or Burt Lancaster.
April 15, 2020 8:38 AM. ^^ My guess is she's being well provided for by the Douglas family to remain silent. She doesn't even seem to be harassing Robert Wagner anymore. by Anonymous. reply 5. April 15, 2020 8:42 AM. Spencer Tracey was hated more. Sorry I misspelled his name.
Debra Winger bit Michael Douglas on the arm because Michael's sleazy father Kirk Douglas violently raped Natalie Wood. I always liked Debra Winger, believable in every role, honest performance and relatable, not forced or fake, she seems authentic and sincere. She doesn't take any shit, she's outspoken and speaks her mind, thus called "difficult".
Kirk Douglas, [Italic]Detective Story.[/italic] He was amazing here: tender and loving in his initial scenes with Eleanor Parker, jocular with his colleagues, absolutely terrifying in the latter third of the film. And I've never been a Kirk Douglas fan (I do adore Michael, though).
Girl who was found killed in a trash bin and her handbag found later in a park, with a handwritten note saying "sorry Kirk, I have to see Dr whatever for that abortion now that mother is away". Of course Kirk Douglas denied knowing her --even though they were working on the same movie,-- and was immediately released with an apology.
