For your first question yes, our Xfinity hotspots do have both a secure and not secure network. This is to help provide access to everyone and an option we opened up to assist with areas in need at the start of COVID-19. You will see the Non-secure option almost all the time since those are open to use for everyone.

They still had a New Year's special running for $20 (taxes & fees incl.) for 2 years with unlimited data! It's cheaper than the new Xfinity Mobile by the gig rate will be (with taxes). Mint Mobile is running a deal for $15 a month (taxes & fees incl.) which includes 5GB of data per month. I suspect Verizon increased their MVNO fees to Xfinity.

  10. Will my Verizon extender continue to work if I switch to Xfinity...

    forums.xfinity.com/conversations/plan/will-my-verizon-extender-continue-to...

We'd like to switch to Xfinity Mobile, but we're concerned about coverage, particularly in our home. Apparently Xfinity Mobile is a Verizon MVNO, which means that it uses Verizon's cellular infrastructure and radio signals. The Verizon signal is so weak where we live that we had to buy a Verizon-approved cellular extender (a Samsung SLS-BU10B).
