I recently upgraded my PC and upon getting it back and booting it up for the first time, the MSI Driver Utility Installer popped up. I don't have much experience with MSI products so figured these were just routine updates to various drivers, but when I tried to install them, the installer got stuck at around 43%, occasionally saying it had an ...

I had the same problem but managed to fix it by: Going to device manager. right click on the bluetooth section and pressed "update driver". clicked "Browse my computer for drivers". Chose the folder containing the bluetooth drivers. I got it from the MSI website for my motherboard (PRO B650M-A WIFI) under the "driver" and "LAN drivers tab".

The MSI Driver Utility Installer is actually a rootkit that MSI buried in the BIOS and it exists to brick motherboards with a BIOS update from within Windows. Brick the board. Deny the RMA. Sell you a new one. Grift, baby! GRIFT! Gigabyte had the same rootkit and was forced to remove it due the backlash, but MSI so far gets to skate.
Check that your chipset is listed, then use the exe in \Cons\ME_SW_MSI\SetupME.exe to install. Gaming app is working immediately afterwards. However, some of the MSI apps might need to be reinstalled. E.g. I had to reinstall MSI Live Update. (all tested with Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon)

Bad marketing from MSI for this laptop: This game just got real. As in this game being with the webcam. It got real for sure lol. You should double triple check if the internal webcam works with Windows provided driver instead.
