    I am using McAfee total protection program. I have tried to run a scan of the computer and tow time is stopped, once at 99& and the next at 98% complete.     Report abuse. Depending on the size of the drive and the amount of files, in addition to partitions or drives, it can indeed take long. You might want to cancel the scan then try scanning outside of Windows using the Windows Defender Offline tool or my personal preference: ESET Sysrescue offline scanner.
