I downloaded MSI afterburner but there was nothing on the website for kombustor, afterburner works but i have a lot of history with malware and viruses so do not want to download kombustor from a risky source, thought why not ask the professionals, thanks for the help (and leaving a link for the website would be appreciated)
Run a variety of games/benchmarks. No other way to know for sure IMO. Some benchmarks/games will run all day at a specific OC while another will crash within a minute. They all use the gpu differently. Sometimes a light load will crash due to the card boosting to the voltage limit. Other times a very heavy load (higher temps) will crash also. 1.

rocketchatb. •. kombustor is furmark right? go for the highest preset it allows you. alternatively, try benchmarks like unigine heaven or 3dmark timespy. those two are great for picking up errors and they give you a score at the end to check if your performance is regressing instead of improving. ADMIN MOD. MSI Kombustor - What's the deal with Artifacts? I've been watching a few guides on overclocking my GTX1080, and tonight I finally gave it a go. Many of the guides say to watch the screen for artifacts. I've done this, and I don't see anything. I've tested it for 10 - 15 minutes and it doesn't crash, and I don't see anything amiss.
