Slate only has the one drum product, and it's more like Superior Drummer than EZD in that you have more control over more factors. However, it can also be easy to use without a lot of experience and the stock kits sound great without a lot of tweaking. So it's sort of a happy medium between the two Toontrack offerings.

It seems to me that Superior Drummer has everything EZDrummer has, and much more of it. For maximum flexibility, Superior Drummer wins IMO. I think you could use Steven Slate drums in Superior Drummer as well, if you wanted to. In the tutorial I watched, Steven Slate drums were mentioned as one of the kits and grooves loaded in the samples.

EZD- Kinda like a Kemper, you get the kits already EQ’d/mixed with little variation available after the fact, but some great sounding kits. SD3- Kinda like the AxeFX in that you get some great presets but full control over the tweakability. You can even use just the raw drum samples and roll your own EQ/compression.
