Go to the IRS application you’d like to access. Sign in with your ID.me account and complete multi-factor authentication (MFA). If required, follow the prompts to provide any additional information. From the Authorize screen, review the information that the IRS will receive and then select Allow to consent to share that information with them.

To verify their identity with ID.me, taxpayers will need to: Provide a photo of a driver's license, state ID or passport. Take a selfie using a smartphone or a computer with a webcam. The IRS is using ID.me, a trusted technology provider of identity verification and sign-in services, for taxpayers to securely access IRS tools. Anyone with an existing ID.me account from the Child Tax Credit Update Portal, or from another government agency, can sign in with their existing credentials.
