The solution for me was to uninstall the Riot Vanguard and restart the PC. (I also uninstalled Valorant before, but I don't think that's necessary). Note: If you can't uninstall Riot Vanguard, start your PC in safe mode and try again. Out of curiosity, are there any players here who don't have Valorant installed but are experiencing the same ...
After all my research, full clean reinstall of windows (NO CLOUD STORAGE OR BACKUP) is the only fix so far since bypassing the bug preventing Device/volumes folder for riot client deletion exists. To do this create a shortcut for LeagueClient.exe then rename the target in the shortcut menu to C:\Riot Games\Riot Client\RiotClientServices.exe" --launch-product=league_of_legends --launch-patchline=live --disable-patching --disable-self-update. This will force the game to open regardless of what riot client thinks
R-click the Riot client in the systems tray and the League icon shows, but the word League of Legends is missing and it's not launchable from the Riot client (which also prevents the LoL shortcut from working properly). Like the title says. Was trying to clear space for baldurs gate 3 and noticed that the riot client alone is 32gb. The client itself isn’t even needed to run league or valorant, but I don’t want to be screwed if I delete it and end up needing it to run Val. Pls lemme know nerds of the internet, I don’t know what I’m doing
There is a setting for Riot Client called "enable_system_tray" and it's directly related to whether the Riot Client automatically minimizers to system tray. But the LeagueClient.exe shortcut works because it doesn't prompt with a Riot client window if credentials are stored already.
Make sure, nothing about the game is running (check the processes on the lower right of your screen). Riot Games launcher, vanguard and other affiliated programs must not be running. Then uninstall using the system settings. Btw, I agree with your comments about the Riot client :)
