The Half Moon Bay Coastside has done a great job of filling in most of the expanse along this portion of the San Mateo County coast. Walk all or part of this magnificent trail with some of the most spectacular coastal views of the state. You will encounter countless birds, sea life, and wildlife along the way.
The biggest surf break of the Half Moon Bay area lures surfers from around the globe. Just off the coast, a short distance outside Pillar Point Harbor, Mavericks looms large on the horizon in winter months (November through March), when the storm swell pushes the surf into some of the biggest waves in the world.
