If you just need a regular apk, apkmirror is best. Apkpure and apkcombo are generally the reliable ones. The main ones I use is apkpure uptodown softonic and apkvision. i used PDAlife a lot. its a russian site but it has english version. APKPure or Aptoide are pretty good.
Edit: fixed link for galaxy. Apkmirror and apkpure.. I would still download and run it through virustotal just to be safe. If you want cracked apks, then mobilism. Yalp store. You can get it from f-droid, which is also a good store. If you search up the app name and "apk", most sites should be legit.
Other ones work great in my experience panda app store is my favorite for apks just don't update it inside app and wait for ads to end. I would also recommend getting an ad blocker if you are going to be downloading apks from any site as some do have viruses. But ad blockers should keep you more safe. 2. true.

If the APK will overwrite to the existing one, it means it's safe. If the APK gives (Application Not Installed) erorr when it is being overwrited, it's signature got changed and it's not safe. To Check 1.2.0 APK Signatures -->
