When I first seriously played Cookie Clicker a little over a year ago, I didn't have the slightest clue about what ascending really was or how it worked, or that it could actually benefit me. I actually thought that I was just wiping mt save for no good reason, and had no clue what heavenly chips could be used for.

Scroll to the very top of the stats menu, and where it says "Cookies in bank" (The first one) : click the small cookie beside it. "Olden Days". There are 4 tabs at the top of the screen. The "Options", "Stats", "Legacy and the "Info". Click the Info tab, scroll all the way down to the bottom, and click the thumb shape cookie in the corner.
If your wrinklers have not made enough to afford 5 Prisms by the 7th hour mark, then don't pop them. Simply wait until the 12th hour, pop them, eat your chocolate egg and reset.
