Philippine Airlines Flight 434, sometimes referred to as PAL434 or PR434, was a scheduled flight on December 11, 1994, from Manila to Tokyo with a quick stopover in Cebu on a Boeing 747-283B that was seriously damaged by a bomb, killing one passenger and damaging vital control systems, although the plane was in a repairable state. Philippine Airlines ( PAL) is the flag carrier of the Philippines. [ 11] Headquartered at the PNB Financial Center in Pasay, the airline was founded in 1941 and is the oldest operating commercial airline in Asia. [ 12][ 13][ 14][ note 2] The airline's main flight operations are located at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Metro Manila.
On December 3, 1930, the Philippine Aerial Taxi Company (PATCO) was established by Emanuel N. Bachrach. It commenced operations on March 18, 1931, with a round-trip flight from Manila to Iloilo. [ 2] The company then had scheduled Manila-Baguio and Manila-Paracale flights. [ 3]
On August 4, 1984, a Philippine Airlines BAC One-Eleven 500 overshot runway 36 by 30 meters (100 ft) and landed at sea. All 70 passengers and five crew survived. [15] On February 15, 2007, Philippine Airlines Flight 191 from Manila, performed by an Airbus A320, overshot the runway. There were no casualties among 113 passengers and six crew members.
