Since Flickr started in 2004, until December 2017, the number of uploads sums up to 6.47 billion photos, although Flickr announced they reached 6 billion in August 2011. Either the Flickr API does not report all uploads ever, or the number of private photos and other material (presentations, videos) is higher than what would be expected.
