I just updated my previous message to include instructions for verifying that documents and templates are saved locally. On a PC, you can check if the text added to a new, blank document displays correctly in the preview at File > Print. If the issue turns out not to be with the display, further troubleshooting will be required. Since new, blank documents are affected, renaming the Normal template (with Word closed) is a useful diagnostic step.
