If their gift is a duplicate, then YOU do the legwork to correct the registry, not them. So, say you get a duplicate: Return your duplicate item to the store with the registry. Say you get an item from another store, and it's on your registry at Macy's. Call Macy's, or get online, and update your registry by removing the item.

Sorry for being long, but it has to be said just to clarify for anyone who is misled about registry cards. Cliffnotes: Yes, the shower hostess can absolutely put registry info into the shower invitations. This is actually expected. Including registry info in wedding invitations: horribly, unspeakably rude.

We get a 10% discount at Target for anything on our registry that isn't bought so that's why we are keeping it. I'm in the same boat, we have a small apartment so we can't have too much stuff. I did downsize it a little and kept some stuff we still needed so we could get the discount if no one gets them, plus we have gift cards to use also!
The main reason I want to do a bridal shower registry and wedding registry is that the vast majority of my wedding guests are coming from out of town.
