  2. Edmunds car ratings- inconsistent with reviews?

    forums.edmunds.com/.../ford/escape/edmunds-car-ratings-inconsistent-with-reviews

The ratings don't reflect this. The Escape should be rated higher than the CR-V for areas in which it is superior. Is this a matter of Edmunds' preference for the Honda influencing the report card? I hope not- this is supposed to be a subjective thing, allowing people to comparison shop.

  3. Best Used Compact SUV? — Car Forums at Edmunds.com

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/35876/general/x/best-used-compact-suv

Any of those 3 should be reliable cars. It is important to focus on comfort if you have a long commute so that will help you decide which make. And it's important to get any used car checked out by a mechanic of your choice before you buy.

  4. Subaru Forester vs Toyota RAV4 — Car Forums at Edmunds.com

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/2174/subaru/forester/subaru-forester-vs-toyota-rav4

The Forester "is" a car, so it does meet all the car safety and crash requirements. The Rav4 is considered a multi-purpose vehicle, which is not required to meet those tougher car standards. For example, the rear bumper of the Rav4 would never pass the car bumper test. Its rear bumper is really a joke.

Driven: The 2023 Honda Pilot Is Improved but Its Tech Falls Short of the Best | Edmunds The redesigned 2023 Honda Pilot gets a bigger and more flexible interior and better driving characteristics. But with tech and luxury features, it still falls shy of the best.

Not sure of Lexus on the used market, but I would think their NX and UX models might be worth a look. If you can find an Acura TSX in good shape, would probably be worth a serious look. 2024 Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD Long Range, 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring

  7. I want to buy a used Prius but I need advice — Car Forums ... -...

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/15477/toyota/prius/i-want-to-buy-a-used-prius...

A Prius batter can easliy go over 200K miles, so I wouldn't worry about that. And while it may be more difficult to repair, the reliabilty ratings of the Prius have always been on the top of the JD Powers, Consumer Reports, US news, etc charts, and it's better to have a highly reliably more complicated car than a simple Chevy that lives in a repair shop.

  8. Oil Filters, whose is best, and Why? — Car Forums at Edmunds.com

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/2147/ford/x/oil-filters-whose-is-best-and-why

In the other car I have 170,000 miles with dino and it appears to be running strong anyway. Why change? Personally, if I wanted to keep the engine in top condition I would go to synthetic after the first oil change, change filters at 3,000 miles, and never exceed the SEVERE schedule of 5,000 miles during the warranty period.

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/11173/nissan/murano/to-resistall-or-not-to

That car looked showroom new until the day I sold it 5 years down the line. The funny part about this car was that a buddy and I purchased the same car, same exterior colour, at the same time. Over time, his red car faded a bit, and mine was perfect (and I never waxed the vehicle, ever).

  11. Horsepower ratings exaggerated — Car Forums at Edmunds.com

    forums.edmunds.com/discussion/231/ford/x/horsepower-ratings-exaggerated

Horsepower figures are like fuel economy ratings. They're done in a lab, under a specific procedure so that they can be used for comparison. However, engines are assembly-line produced. You can take five random engines from a plant, dyno all 5, and get 5 different sets of numbers.
