To disable third-party ad-blocking extensions: Click on three horizontal dots at top right corner of Edge browser. Go to Extensions. The Edge browser on the consoles is a closed browser and currently, there is no way to install extensions into the console version of Edge, hopefully they may add that functionality in an update, but for now that is not possible. In the left pane, if there is a sub folder of Microsoft named Edge, delete it. Paste this into the Address Bar at the top and hit Enter. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft. Here's the steps I took: 1) Followed the steps outlined in this thread. This made it possible for Edge to disable the extension. 2) Since the built-in Windows security wasn't able to detect anything, I tried doing a scan using Webroot security. This was able to detect a virus in the Edge.exe install and removed it.
I have deleted the installed extensions. (They are reinstalled when I open Edge again.) I have searched for a control to prevent installing extensions from other browsers. I have searched with Bing to find a solution to this. (They involve Group Policy or Registry adjustments.) Any help will be appreciated. Answer.
