  2. TV Tropes - Is it Bad? : r/writing - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/r/writing/comments/15k5ujy/tv_tropes_is_it_bad

TV Tropes is an amazing resource, and it's hugely useful to understand TROPES (everything is a trope). People hate it because it's a rabbit-hole that's hard to escape from. Tbh, I think TVTropes is a fantastic resource for writers/creators to find tropes and see examples of how it's handled in other stories.

  3. What is something you hate about TV Tropes? - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/r/tvtropes/comments/eu3vqq/what_is_something_you_hate_about_tv...

The only thing that I hate about TV Tropes is that it will ruin your life by sucking you into a bottomless void that you can never escape from. But other than that, I completely enjoy going on the site to browse pages that I'm interested in. Reply reply. Norodrom.

What we want is TV Tropes minus the censorship, TV Tropes with a better wiki engine and more security/stability. TV Tropes where the community has a voice and the moderators don't have god complexes. TV Tropes where you can question the direction of the wiki and not get banned for it.

  6. Is TV Tropes a good source of info for researching characters?

    www.reddit.com/r/FanFiction/comments/11wy5wp/is_tv_tropes_a_good_source_of...

TV Tropes isn't Wikipedia (and there are a few tropers who will never, ever let you forget that), but there are reasons Wikipedia tells you that using Wikipedia as a source is a bad idea, and those reasons apply to nearly all other wikis, including TV Tropes. Of course, when we're talking writing fanfiction, the stakes are pretty low.

  7. Dumbest/frustrating things done by TV Tropes? - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/.../comments/123l0j9/dumbestfrustrating_things_done_by_tv_tropes

Dumbest thing done by TV Tropes? TV Tropes is a site I browse to pass the time and which I am constantly upset by the moderator changes that make no sense. Mine is the sheer hypocrisy of the site keeping some vague Tropes but delating others for some reason. Anything involving the "Alternative interpretation" tag.

  8. Cons of TV Tropes : r/AllTheTropes - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/r/AllTheTropes/comments/c81bko/cons_of_tv_tropes

Cons of TV Tropes. I like TV Tropes, and I have for a long time. There is some truth to how addictive it can be, but it wears off. I kinda overdid it in my teen years, admittedly. At my absolute lowest points during illness and stress, I suppose you could say that sites like TV Tropes become something of an emotional crutch -- an entertainment ...

It seems like Tvtropes is horribly used as a guide for spotting tropes just to say their intrinsically bad. Also, fictional vs real materials. Rant

what TV tropes,do you REALLY hate.? T.V is full of heaps of tropes. But for me it's probably 3 or 4 main tropes. 1.The characters, end up breaking up/in a fight/killing each other, all from a simple lack of communication, that makes no sense in the real world. 2.Anything TECH related, the viewer is treated like a fucking moron,Hand me the encrypted ...
