  2. Value of Eurail Pass for 2 Seniors - Rick Steves Travel Forum

    community.ricksteves.com/.../transportation/value-of-eurail-pass-for-2-seniors

The only accurate way to evaluate a rail pass is to compare it with prices from the national rail companies. Netherlands is www.ns.nl; Belgium is www.b-rail.be. To go to and from Paris, you probably want to use Thalys. Eurail passes only partially cover travel on Thalys; there is a big surcharge to use Thalys with a rail pass.

  3. BritRail or Eurail pass? - Rick Steves Travel Forum

    community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/england/britrail-or-eurail-pass

Add to that the £30 cost of a senior BritRail pass. A four-day standard coach pass was considerably less expensive - $279 for a senior BritRail flexipass from the ACP site, and $224 for a senior Eurail flexipass from the RailEurope site. But I couldn’t ascertain if the Eurail pass was as easy to use as the BritRail pass.

  4. Using Eurail global pass for trains for Norway in a Nutshell

    community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/norway/using-eurail-global-pass-for...

I'm looking at booking a 4 day global eurail pass for 2 seniors (defined at age 60+), which is currently on sale, 20% discount for $280 each, $560 total for first class. I'm trying to understand all of the details. It seems like making seat reservations for the Oslo-Myrdal and Voss-Bergen legs with the first class eurail pass doesn't cost extra.

  6. Senior Eurail pass vs. SNCF Senior+ card - Rick Steves

    community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/transportation/senior-eurail-pass-vs...

For $260 per person in 2nd class or $348 in 1st, the Senior version of the 8-day Eurail France pass is not going to break the budget. But seat reservations will tend to add $11 per trip by faster train, or up to $27 if a TGV is getting closer to full.

  7. Eurail Global Pass - Rick Steves Travel Forum

    community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/germany/eurail-global-pass-32d84fdf-3957...

Now, that the Eurail Global Pass has been revised, with more incentives, made more attractive with a Senior Pass category, given its total price and 15 days of travel, that Paris-Frankfurt connection will cost 29 Euro as that is the per day amount in Euro.

  9. Eurail Mobile Pass - Rick Steves Travel Forum

    community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/transportation/eurail-mobile-pass

Eurail does not have an eight day pass - the next pass up after 7 days is 15 days, definitely overkill. Compare the 7 most expensive days of my travel, which cost us $296, with the current 20% discount price of a 2 adult Eurail Global pass at $660.

  10. 1st Class vs. 2nd Class Eurail Passes - Rick Steves

    community.ricksteves.com/.../transportation/1st-class-vs-2nd-class-eurail-passes

Anybody, even seniors, can buy the second class pass. The senior first class pass is cheaper than the regular first class pass, but more expensive than second class regular passes. I'm a senior and I have bought the second class passes. Usually 2nd class is just fine. Save the money and spend what you save on a nice dinner.

  11. Using a EuroRail pass in Great Britain - Rick Steves Travel Forum

    community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/transportation/using-a-eurorail-pass-in...

The changes made to the 2019 pass seem pretty good to this old senior. Over 60 (seniors) and second class makes the Global pass very attractive. Heck, a day at Disneyland will cost you at least $150.00 per person. A 3 month Global Eurail pass is only about $800.0 0- $900.00.
