The secret is, you have to get a feel for how long the burn time is, and when to cut off the power. If you hold on too long, the stud will not pull/break off clean, it will leave a tiny hole when it does. After I got used to it, no problems. I also use it with a shrinking tip to shrink dents/high spots.

Slid the nail head in the hole and weld it up. The dress and metal finish it. If you nail head was larger then the whole, slide it in from the back (if accessible) or file down the nail head. But then I learned (here on the hamb) about backing a small hole with copper and fill in the whole with welder. Great share.

Coincidentally years ago when we repaired dented oil pans in a similar manner in lieu of removing the pan and/or engine. We'd first drain the pan before brazing metal tabs on and using slide hammers to pull the damaged pan back into shape before melting the brass off with the oxy-acetylene torch and removing the tabs.

This is the correct KRW hub tool. It is repoped today and available at most Vintage Ford parts stores. The first steps in hub removal is to naturally remove the cotter key and the axle nut. The second step is to try to release any brake shoe drag that might be built up from rust, leaky grease or stuck wheel cylinders.
