ViGEmBus has shown its age for quite some time now. The code comes from a different time, it's aged badly, is difficult to understand and maintain/update. Plus I didn't push any changes recently other than some bugfixes anyway, so the update pace was almost at a standstill as it is.
Hmm no joy, when I try to install it ViGembus it says that I already have the latest version. And if DS4 trys to install it crashes. I have removed all instances of DS4, SPC toolkit and other Neferious software but it still won't install over the top of the (presumably broken) instance.
Software like ViGEmBus, HidHide and older versions of BthPS3 got shipped with an auto-updater service that currently communicates with a server domains that won't belong to us anymore after the end of 2023. Because of this, the configuration of the updaters need to be adjust so they contact our new server domain from now on.
As a direct result the ViGEmBus project will no longer receive any updates and has been archived/retired. This has no impact on existing installations except for the updater components. Navigate to the path C:\Program Files\Nefarius Software Solutions\ViGEm Bus Driver and edit the file ViGEmBus_Updater.ini with a text editor of your choice (you will need Administrator permissions to edit).
I just updated to the Ryochan 3.0.1 version and ran into a similar issue where the driver wouldn't install at all (ie. clicked the button on the window that pops up and nothing happens).
As I have googled for the answer most people with this issue have forgotten to install vigembus. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with reboot between each install / uninstall but no luck. I also tried both 1.18 and 1.21 vigembus releases. For reference pc is on win11 and client is moonlight on android with razer ishi controller.
If I'm understanding it correctly, the creator of vigembus received the European equivalent of a DMCA notice from an already-existing company operating under a similar name. Since the driver software just kinda works and hasn't been updated in a while anyway, he's ending development and retiring the domain where he originally hosted the project ...
