    Robert “Bob” William Frederick, 92, of Chanute passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Bob was born on December 19, 1931, in Owl Creek (rural Wilson County), Kansas, one of eleven children of Raymond and Clara (Westerman) Frederick.

    People soon will be able to shop at a new retailer, bealls, in Chanute as the store plans to open in late spring. The new bealls store will open at 1425 S. Santa Fe, which was the former location of JCPenney.
