FYI: Even though Gaylord built this big water park thing, it is NOT a "family friendly" resort!! Rooms at the Gaylord cost MORE (avg $179 a night) than those at GWL (avg $150 a night), and the rooms are family rooms with a treehouse bed for kids, etc. Gaylord is a luxury hotel, so the rooms are typical luxury hotel rooms.

Someone else mentioned the indoor water park called Kalahari in Sandusky; my friends have gone there a few times and they LOVE it! That might be an option for a future weekend! They also have one of those Great Wolf Lodge or whatever you call it, another indoor waterpark.
Charlotte also has Carowinds, Discovery Place, the African American Cultural Center, and Great Wolf Lodge--things for which there is no equivalent in Greenville. Charlotte also hosts a wider array of annual/special events.
For example if you build a multi purpose youth athletic complex capable of hosting large scale competitions then you are creating more reasons for people to come to your park. Add say something like a Great Wolf Lodge, Top Golf, Dave & Busters etc & you start to build something that generates revenue year round
